Private Funds Roundtable

The Private Funds Roundtable, co-organized by BYU Law School, Yale Law School, New York University School of Law and Duke Law School, gathers top academics, policymakers, and industry leaders to discuss the law and policy of private equity. The rise of private equity in recent years has had a transformative impact on both Wall Street and Main Street, with profound implications for the future of the domestic and global economy.

Jan. 16, 2025: The 2nd Annual Private Funds Roundtable

The second annual roundtable will be hosted by the Institute for Corporate Governance & Finance at NYU School of Law. It will include the following sessions:

  • Research Discussion: Private Equity Fund Contracting: An Empirical History, presented by William W. Clayton (BYU Law)
  • Roundtable Discussion: Private Ordering After the Vacated Private Fund Adviser Rules, moderated by Elisabeth de Fontenay (Duke Law)
  • Roundtable Discussion: The Retailization of Private Funds, moderated by Rob Jackson (NYU School of Law)

Nov. 16, 2023: The Future of Private Equity Regulation

The 2023 roundtable was an invitation-only event that convened in New York City. The program included the following two discussion sessions:

  • Past and Present: The Paradigm Shift in Private Equity Regulation, moderated by William Clayton (BYU Law School)
  • Economic Foundations and the Future of Private Equity Regulation, moderated by John Morley (Yale Law School)

The roundtable concluded with a keynote address by William Birdthistle, Director of the SEC Division of Investment Management.
